![]() Other related events planned include an exhibit of the original artwork from "Our Cancer Story " from Oct. Pekar and Stack's talk, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Pekar, Stack and Pekar's wife, Joyce Brabner, collaborated on the award-winning graphic novel, "Our Cancer Story, " a book-length comics narrative that chronicles Pekar's diagnosis and treatment for lymphoma in 1990 and other events of that year while couple was in the process of buying a home in Cleveland. Writers and artists will work with submitted stories to create the graphic novel, "Lafayette - Our Cancer Year," which will be displayed in Purdue Memorial Union at the center's Creating Hope Community Exhibit during the colloquium. The community is invited to submit stories on how cancer has touched their lives in what eventually will be compiled into a graphic novel. The Lafayette-West Lafayette and Purdue communities can participate through the Discovery Park center's Creating Hope program, which will build on the event's "Our Cancer Year" theme, said Julie Nagel, managing director of the Oncological Sciences Center.
